1. Chatham Lighthouse Beach

The Chatham Lighthouse Beach is nested below the Chatham Lighthouse, an active lighthouse for the Coast Guard that helps navigation in the waters around Chatham.

The lighthouse is typically closed to the public but certain times during the summer it opens to visitors free of charge. Be sure you don’t miss your opportunity to go!

2. Oyster Pond Beach

Oyster Pond Beach sits right up against a saltwater pond. The waters are very warm and calm.

Swimming lessons and rafts are available for visitors. It also boasts a short distance away from town with scenic views and picnic tables.

 

3. Harding Beach

Harding’s Beach is located in the Nantucket sound with warm and calm waters. There is plenty of parking available with staffed life guard stations. There are also food vendors and showers on site.

Harding’s Beach is definitely the most family oriented beach in Chatham. There plenty of opportunities for walks, and games on the beach.

The beach offers a great view of Stage Harbor and Oyster River with great opportunities for bird watching.

 

4. Pleasant Bay (Jackknife Cove)

Pleasant Bay is another great beach for families. It is a sheltered cove that boasts shallow, warm and calm waters.

There are great views of the tide in the winding cove across Pleasant Bay. There are also great opportunities for kayaking nearby.

 

5. Ridgevale Beach

Ridgevale Beach is located right between Harding’s Beach and Cockle Cove. On either side of Ridgevale Beach is Buck’s Creek and Eel Creek.

This is another great place to enjoy the scenery, walks, and snack bar.

Cockle Cove is a unique beach in the Nantucket Sound. It has smaller waves and located on Cockle Cove road, adjacent to Route 28.

This is a very popular spot for children because of the calm and warm waters with nice shallow areas. Cockle Cove also has a great beach for walking and a lovely bridge.

This is at the end of Pleasant Street and is very similar to Forest Beach. There are easy walks across the way to Red River. This is definitely a great family beach.
